QbiQ introduces the iQ WOOD!
QbiQ presents the iQ WOOD. A wooden partition wall with single or double glass.
The warm and natural look of wood combined with the flexibility of an aluminium partition wall.
Unique wall combination
iQWOOD is a glass wall system built up from a combination of aluminium and wooden profiles. By working with aluminium (click) profiles, we retain the strength of a flexible partition wall.
Thanks to the unique combination of materials it is possible to create a minimalist, wooden partition wall with maximum rigidity and a profile height of only 33 mm.
A door element in the wall system consists of a solid wood frame that can be combined with various QbiQ door types.
Sustainability
The inner core of the iQ WOOD is Cradle to Cradle Silver certified. The FSC wood used is available in European Oak and Abachi. The wood is not nailed down, but blindly attached to the aluminium (click) profiles. The glass is ‘dry’ mounted by way of a glass rubber. This makes the wall completely remountable and the system fits seamlessly in our circular partition wall range.
Single or double glass
The iQ WOOD is available in a single and double glass version with wall thicknesses of 40 mm and 98 mm respectively. The double pane variant has higher sound insulation values and is therefore particularly suitable for situations with high sound requirements.
Glass
The laminated glass with a thickness of 12.76 mm can optionally be fitted with an acoustic damping film.
In both versions, the glass panels are connected to each other with a fully transparent 0-joint. This eliminates the need for vertical jambs and results in a beautiful glass wall with an open and natural character.
Naturally, iQ WOOD can be perfectly combined with other QbiQ wall systems.

iQ PURO steel plate inner door frames
Besides (fireproof) walls and doors for utility projects, QbiQ also offers concepts for sheet plate inner door frames. Slim frame solutions that can be built up as single or double door frames. Because they are welded and polished as a complete frame, you are assured of a professional solution. If acoustics are a challenge then choose a double rebate, indicated with a D.
The steel frames from the iQ PURO series can be fitted with any desired door type.
It is also important for the eye: iQ PURO window frames always have the same appearance, regardless of the door choice and/or any fire or smoke protection classification. In this way, safety and aesthetics go hand in hand. Coating window frames and (frame) doors in a single RAL colour brings even more unity.

Aesthetic and acoustic aspects
When designing school classrooms, offices and other rooms, the emphasis is mainly on sound insulation, in addition to aesthetic aspects. A single- or double-glazed wall is often used to achieve a certain dB value. When determining sound transmission in a practical situation, the door also plays a crucial role. The right door can substantially contribute to a pleasant working environment and maybe even prevent investing in a double-glazed wall.
QbiQ frame doors are always fitted with acoustic laminated glass. In a KDEC or KDET door the thickness is 12 mm (6.6.a.2). There are also (flush) door variants with 2x 8 mm (4.4.a.2) laminated glass. There is a choice of a single or double seal and of one or even two drop seals.
We are happy to update you about these important choices in the field of frame doors!
S200 smoke resistant glass can withstand 200 degrees Celsius.
New tests at DMT Lathen
QbiQ Wall Systems recently expanded its wall system IQ Protect S200 with an S200 frame door and had it all tested at DMT in Lathen. The test setup with an IQ Protect single glass wall and an aluminium frame door passed the S200 smoke resistance test with flying colours. We are happy to share our expertise in this field with you.
Smoke is life-threatening
Studies have shown that more people die in a fire from smoke than from the fire. Inhalation of smoke is disastrous and results in suffocation. In 2017 this led to more strictly formulated insights into the safety of buildings and specific requirements were set for the smoke resistance of walls and doors.
Environmental structures decree
In the environmental structures decree, strict requirements are set for the smoke resistance of compartments with separate requirements for both hot and cold smoke. Depending on the type of building and use, it is determined which classification is required.
- Sa Classification for non-sleeping buildings such as offices. Here one assumes smoke with ambient temperature, or “cold smoke”.
- S200 Classification for buildings where people sleep, such as hospitals, hotels and nurseries. It is based on smoke resistance at 200 °C, or “hot smoke”.
- No requirement: smoke screens are no longer fire resistant (unless it concerns protected subBCs and BCs).
QbiQ Wall Systems has had a number of tests carried out in the field of smoke resistance and we can therefore, as with our regular system walls, make combinations of closed and transparent smoke-resistant wall systems, in which both closed doors and frame doors can be used. Naturally, they are provided with a test certificate from the German inspection authority DMT in Lathen.
Let us advise you if smoke resistant walls are required in your design!
Cradle-2-Cradle certified fire-resistant glass façades
The first Cradle-2-Cradle certified QbiQ fire-resistant wall system is now a reality.
QbiQ wall systems has been working on being a leader in sustainability for years. Its production processes achieve the best possible results within the 5 targets of the valued C2C certificate. Partner AGC Glass Europe has even awarded the Pyrobel range a C2C silver certification.
An important step forward in its sustainability ambition.
Of course, we would be more than happy to use these beautiful products that are combined in the QbiQ IQ PROTECT range in your project.
IQ-PROTECT Hightech
QbiQ introduces the IQ-PROTECT Hightech. A new EI60 fire-resistant facade with a profile height of just 33mm and a fully 0-joint. This EI60 facade is a breakthrough in the design of fire-resistant facades that up until now were also made with much higher profiles.
This new fire facade is a welcome extension of the IQ Protect assortment that consists of multiple fire and impact-resistant wall systems and glass facades with EI30, EI60,EW30 and EW60 classification.
33 mm profile height
QbiQ modular walls are widely known for their integral profile height of just 33 mm. All QbiQ wall systems can therefore be seamlessly combined and linked. From now on it is therefore also possible to seamlessly combine the fire-resistant and/or compartment separating walls. With a wall like this one, architects get the opportunity to design an even sleeker, highly aesthetic interior.
Transparent 0-joint
In this fire-resistant wall system QbiQ also chose a 0-joint. No vertical supports are therefore needed in this EI60 wall. This enables creating a full glass wall where a EI60 classification is required.

Slender frame meets slim door
QbiQ & Plooijer are jointly presenting an innovative concept, slender & slim for the most taught design. The QbiQ framed doors are fully integrated in the steel plate frame assortment of Plooijer Zaandam.
Unique synergy
You can seamlessly use the austere QbiQ aluminium framed doors in both the QbiQ partition walls and in the structural walls with steel plate frames of Plooijer. This provides a unique synergy, particularly in situations where both structural doors as well as doors in partition walls are visible. As it’s now possible to equip the structural and the flexible part of the building with the same aluminium framed doors, the walls fit together beautifully on an aesthetic level.
Large choice
In spite of the collaboration still being quite recent; there is an immediate large choice of doors and frames. QbiQ has five aluminium framed doors that are suitable for placement in a steel Plooijer frame. The differences between the framed doors consist of, among others, single or double glazing, the position of the glass (centred or on the side), the width of the aluminium frame and finally, a single or double rabbeted stop.
Depending on the architectural situation and wishes, one of the many Plooijer frames from the large assortment can be chosen.
Cradle to Cradle
In addition, the various combinations of framed doors and steel frames will soon be Cradle to Cradle certified.

QbiQ introduces the Route 66
The Route 66 is a wall system that is characterised by the classic industrial look and feel of the 1930s and 1940s. Inspired by the so-called “Van Nelle facade” as can be found in the former Van Nelle factory in Rotterdam. This grand building is filled with charming walls made of steel and glass. For the first time, whole walls were largely made of glass, creating pleasant workplaces with lots of light and transparency. The Van Nelle factory has been included on the UNESCO world heritage list for good reason.
Robust modular wall
For Route 66 the starting point was to approach the robust cast-iron structure of the Van Nelle facade as much as possible. We always had this idea in mind and the result is pretty good. A modern aluminium modular wall with rough robust profiles for both horizontal and vertical sectioning.
Structure coating
As a designer or architect you are free to choose the colour and coating of the Route 66. The profiles of the Route 66 can be supplied in any RAL colour and, if so desired, provided with a structure that approaches the coarse cast iron even better.
High acoutic values
The Route 66 is available in single or double glazing. For the glazing one can opt for standard glass or for acoustic layered glass for even higher noise damping.
Doors and frames
As is customary at QbiQ, several door frames and doors can be used for this wall system. For instance, shatter-proof glass doors, aluminium door frames or wooden HPL doors can also be provided as sliding doors and double doors.
