By combining the best possible re-use with state-of-the-art materials, Atlas, the rugged TU/e main building from the sixties, has transformed into a transparent and energy-efficient university building. The building is an inviting entrance for the TU/e campus and a showcase for innovation and technology. Education and research meet around a striking staircase zigzagging up to the roof. The study and workspaces are provided with daylight through the transparent system QbiQ walls and the new ultra-insulating glass curtain wall with characteristic parallel top-hinge windows.
Atlas has received a BREEAM Outstanding delivery certificate with a score of no less than 96.01%. This places Atlas on top of the BREEAM ranking of the most sustainable educational buildings of the world.
